Cercarbono opens public consultation on updated REDD+ methodology, reinforcing integrity, safeguards, and international alignment

Cercarbono, a leading global environmental project certification standard, today announced the launch of a public consultation on its updated Integral M/LU-REDD+ Methodology (Version 3.0). This revision strengthens the technical and methodological foundation of REDD+ activities, ensuring consistency with international agreements under the UNFCCC while embedding safeguards to protect biodiversity and the rights of Indigenous Peoples and local communities.

First CBCP-certified biodiversity credits issued

• The first biodiversity credits certified under the Cercarbono Biodiversity Certification Programme (CBCP) have been issued and are now available for international trading.
  
  
• Delivered by the Savimbo Biodiversity Putumayo Project (CDB-1) in the Colombian Amazon, combining rigorous science, transparent data, and robust safeguards.
  
  
• Protecting 3,184.5 hectares of primary rainforest, safeguarding 56 indicator species, and supporting 70 smallholder families.
